NATURALISTIC GARDEN DESIGN

Vineyard estate, Mallorca, Spain

Installation late Spring 2023.

A beautiful new home located on a plot of 22,000 m2 with stunning views of the Tramontana mountains. The home includes an entrance courtyard with a guest house, a pool and pool house, and various terraces for outdoor dining with lounge seating. The front of the plot will be dedicated to a vineyard in the near future.

The clients appreciate natural landscapes and will use part of the garden as a way to spend time observing nature and wildlife with their young children. The gardens around the house include a large biodiverse meadow of perennials and ornamental grass with a bronze sculpture by a local artist, a dry succulent garden, a kitchen garden with small orchard, a children’s play garden, a separate lounge area under large olive trees for viewing the mountains and vineyard, and a courtyard garden with a natural lawn of clover and mixed perennials. Specimen olive trees with a mixed border of drought tolerant planting flank the driveway leading to large Corten planters along the entrance walkway. A naturalistic planting design of ornamental grass, pollinator friendly perennials and edimentals provide a biodiverse habitat for wildlife and complement the changing colours of the mountains while adding movement. In the outer parts of the natural garden, native shrubs and perennials are utilised providing context to the Tramontana setting. Large trees protect against the Tramuntana winds and give visual grounding to the architecture of the home.
