innovative landscapes that work in harmony with nature
Sustainable Garden Landscaping
At Studio Terraforma, we specialise in sustainable garden landscapes using environmentally friendly landscaping techniques and materials tailored to the Mediterranean climate. Our drought-tolerant planting design incorporates native plants and trees as well as Mediterranean adapted selections that require minimal irrigation once established. We consider biodiversity and wildlife habitats through a diverse range of pollinator-friendly plant selections to create wildlife friendly garden designs supporting bees, birds, butterflies and beneficial insects. Vegetable and herb kitchen gardens along with edimentals, plants that are both edible and ornamental, incorporated into planting provide food sources.
Another key feature of sustainable gardens for exterior landscape design is to consider the relationship of hard landscape areas (paving, walls, water features) to soft landscape areas (planting). Keeping impermeable surfaces to a minimum to prevent water runoff and bolstering planting areas not only will create a more beautiful garden, but will also enhance biodiversity creating a dynamic landscape bringing clients closer to nature. Incorporating custom water features is another great way to attract wildlife providing enjoyment to our clients for observing nature.
In the selection of materials, we integrate permeable or recycled surfaces wherever possible. Locally sourced stone and gravel and reclaimed materials add Mediterranean textures that harmoniously blend into their context. Responsible rainwater collection for garden irrigation, composting for soil health and intentional design to prevent soil erosion complete our holistic sustainable garden landscape installations.
We are committed stewards focused on innovative landscapes that work in harmony with nature. Our multi-award winning sustainable garden design follows ecological principles that sustain beauty through intentional design and resilient planting for healthy outdoor living.
