Outdoor lighting diving pool with water feature

Contemporary Landscape & Pool Design

United States

A young family with children enlisted a collaborative team to build their dream home and garden. The sloping front garden is terraced through the use of steel retaining walls, and an Ipe boardwalk transitions the entry between two sets of cantilevered concrete steps. A river birch tree perches at its terminus. Ascending the front walkway, visitors are greeted by textural plantings that interplay with sunlight, harmonising the natural materials utilised on the home’s exterior. Once inside, views from every room bring the outdoors in.

The focal feature of the landscape is a screening wall with a porcelain tiled fountain whose site line centres on the front door. The shape was designed to mirror a pair of windows that the architect incorporated within the home. When illuminated, the glow reflects in the darkened pool at night. Layers of foliage surround the outdoor space and drought-tolerant native plants weave throughout. Stone boulders complement the home’s textural stone and are set among staggered pavers leading toward the reflective pool.

A private retreat just steps outside our door

Tanya created a private retreat just steps outside our door. The sound of water, layers of foliage and views from every room bring the outdoors in.
